Latest : Absolut "Supsked"



In Sweden people have been drinking vodka (aqua vitae), "water of life" - since the end of the 15th century. Originally, it was taken for medicinal purposes to protect against diseases like the plagus and gout. At that time, taking a dram, a nip or a tot, meant drinking as much as you could swallow in a single gulp, in much the same way as you ate a spoonful of soup. In those days vodka was often flavoured with syrup or sugar. Various kinds of cups, goblets and bowls of wood, pewter or silver were used, and the "supsked" itself remained common in Sweden up to the 19th century. ABSOLUT "Supsked" - 20ml - made of polished stainless steel and designed in Ahus, the home of ABSOLUT VODKA.

Absolut Vodka, the world’s leading premium vodka, launches its first-ever China Limited Edition Absolut 72 Bian, in collaboration with the Chinese avant-garde artist Gao Yu. To celebrate the release, Chinese top fashion photographer Chen Man created a series of avant-garde photo artworks for this limited edition. Absolut 72 Bian is available in the China market from August 2010. The name Absolut 72 Bian was inspired by the ancient Chinese mythical figure, the Monkey King. Bian means “transform” in Chinese, and refers to the 72 transformations made by Monkey King during the novel Journey to the West. Gao Yu created surreal, cartoon-like features to this classical figure to express a unique and distinctive fusion of traditional and modern art. He gave a traditional Chinese panda the ability to transform himself into the Monkey King amidst smoky red clouds. At the focal point of the design is the words ‘Absolut’ and, in Chinese, ‘72 Bian’ written in distinctive Chinese red reflecting the style of the modern culture. “Monkey King is the ancient mythical Chinese character that people of my age grew up with”, Gao Yu said about his design, “His unrestrained character, boldness and creativity inspired us to explore our potentials. Moreover, the ability to morph into 72 transformations depicts perfectly the character of innovation. By integrating a panda in the costume play of the Monkey King in the design of this limited edition, I was able to effectively bring together the traditional Chinese elements and the innovative brand value of Absolut Vodka.” Chinese well-known fashion photographer Chen Man developed a series of visual pieces exclusively for the release of Absolut 72 Bian and its four cocktails. In order to highlight the Chinese features of the concept and to express the spirit of the Absolut 72 Bian, Chen Man used Asian models for shooting and showcased the different elements of the four cocktails into models’ outfits. Chen Man said that her initial intention on this project was to “deliver a whole new synaesthetic experience for people from visual to taste while watching the artworks. We aimed to show the various cocktail tastes created by Absolut Vodka China Limited Edition as well as to highlight the essence of the brand —— contemporary, bold and creative.” Previous launches – Absolut Second Skin (2005), Absolut Bling Bling (2006), Absolut Disco (2007), Absolut Masquerade (2008), Absolut Mini Bar (Summer 2009) and Absolut Rock Edition (Winter 2009) - were all achieved great success in the market. In 2010, the first-ever China Limited Edition Absolut 72 Bian will redefine the trend of China Chic. The brand is going to release 350,000 bottles exclusively for the Chinese market this August 2010.

Absolut vodka has launched a new limited edition, Flavor of the Tropics, at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes. The new product will be exclusive to the global duty-free channel and will be launched in Europe and the Americas in January 2010 and rolled out to the rest of the world in February. The Flavor of the Tropics variety features the natural sweetness of orange, mango, lychee and melon, with noted of pineapple and berries, and comes in a collector’s bottle with bright orange and deep red highlights. The new Absolut flavour will be supported by a full-scale marketing campaign including advertising, in-store activities and tastings, moving media and installations. The Absolut Company global travel retail director Anders Olsson said: “We are extremely excited about this unique launch. It’s the first time that we have the privilege of introducing a brand new, innovative flavour exclusively to our travelling consumers, who are always on the lookout for something new and thrilling—something that can’t be found back home. For a leading edge, creative brand such as Absolut, it’s crucial that we always have something to offer to meet and surpass these challenging demands—something new and fresh and unexpected.” In Europe, the new flavoured vodka will be launched with a full-scale campaign at London Heathrow Airport. This exclusive global travel retail launch will then roll out, starting at Paris Charles de Gaulle on 24 February, Frankfurt and Barcelona in March, and Istanbul in April. In Asia, the product will be launched with a comprehensive campaign in Singapore Changi Airport in February, followed by a roll-out across the continent, reaching Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and South Korea in March. “Throughout Changi and the other Asian airports, brand ambassadors dressed in specially designed tropical outfits will invite travellers to enjoy Absolut Flavor of the Tropics signature cocktails,” said Pernod Ricard Asia Duty Free Marketing Director Winnie Wan. Travellers will be able to experience brand installations and sensory adventures, she said. "We hope to give the travellers a truly hot and sweet taste of the tropics.” “In European airports, we’ll be conducting tastings with the new flavour, mixed with orange,” commented Pernod Ricard Travel Retail Europe Head of Marketing John Smailes. “We’ll also be evoking travellers’ senses by sampling individual aromatic scents of the five tropical flavours present in Absolut Flavor of the Tropics - orange, mango, lychee, pineapple and melon. Mine doesn't come with a zip but overall I am very happy with it and I've sold the 1st one on ebay for 25,50euro to a collector from Spain by the name of Carbayon.
